Drag the slider
The change lands on every open window of that app immediately. Sliders floor at 20% so you can never drag a window to invisible and lose it.
It stays that way
The rule is written into your own ~/.config/yabai/yabairc, inside a marked block. Everything outside those markers is preserved byte for byte.

Rules live in your yabairc in a marked block. Uninstall the app tomorrow and yabai keeps applying exactly what you set — nothing is trapped in a database only we can read.
Nothing on the main thread
Opening the panel used to block for 238ms while it shelled out to yabai twice. It now does one query, off the main thread, and a slider drag invalidates one row instead of the whole list.
It never gets in your way
It is a floating utility panel, so a tiling window manager will not drag it onto whatever space you are on and reflow your real windows to fit it. It never opens itself.
Catches up on its own
macOS will not let anything set opacity on a window that is on a space you are not looking at. The app notices when that space appears and applies the rule then.

Questions worth asking first
Why does this need SIP disabled?
macOS has no public API for per-app window opacity. The only way is SkyLight's private SLSSetWindowAlpha, which is reachable only by injecting into Dock.app — that is what yabai's scripting addition does, and it needs System Integrity Protection partially disabled. We did not choose this; it is the only door that exists. If that trade is not one you want to make, do not install this.
Is this just a wrapper around yabai?
Yes, and it says so plainly. yabai does the hard part. This gives you a slider per app instead of hand-editing regex rules, applies changes live rather than on restart, and handles the parts that silently do not work — case mismatches in app names, windows on hidden spaces, rules that only fire at window creation.
What happens when the free limit runs out?
Free covers 3 apps. When you try to set a fourth, the app tells you plainly and offers to upgrade. Nothing you already set stops working, and you can always turn an existing rule back to 100% — being locked out of undoing your own settings would be indefensible.
Do I have to subscribe?
No. There is no subscription. You buy it once and own that major version, including every 1.x update.
What if your payment provider disappears?
Your licence keeps working. It is an Ed25519-signed token that verifies on your machine against a key compiled into the app — there is no server to call. If we vanished tomorrow, every licence sold would still verify.
Does it work if yabai's scripting addition breaks?
The app tells you, rather than silently doing nothing. The scripting addition does break on macOS point updates; the Settings tab shows yabai's status and has a restart button.
