End-user licence agreement
Last updated 4 August 2026 · dfacto.ai · support@dfacto.ai
This agreement is between you and dfacto.ai and covers your use of the Transparency application.
What you get
A non-exclusive, non-transferable, perpetual licence to install and use Transparency for the tier you purchased, on up to the number of machines that tier allows:
- Free — up to 3 managed applications, one machine. No payment, no expiry.
- Pro — unlimited managed applications, up to 3 machines you own or control.
- Studio — unlimited managed applications, up to 10 machines.
“Perpetual” means exactly that: the licence does not expire and is not a subscription. It covers all 1.x releases. A future major version may be a separate purchase; if so, that will be stated before you buy it, not after.
Device limits are honour-based
Your licence key verifies offline, against a public key inside the application. That means the key can technically be copied to more machines than your tier allows. We have chosen offline verification deliberately, so that your software never stops working because our servers are down or a payment provider has frozen our account.
We are telling you plainly that the limit is not technically enforced. Exceeding it is a breach of this agreement. We are trusting you; please do not make that a mistake.
What you may not do
- Share, resell, sublicense, or publish your licence key.
- Forge, tamper with, or circumvent licence verification.
- Remove or alter copyright or licensing notices.
- Use one licence across more machines than your tier permits.
Reverse engineering is permitted to the extent that applicable law grants you that right and any contrary term would be unenforceable.
Open-source components
Transparency requires yabai, which is a separate independent project under its own licence. This agreement does not cover yabai, and nothing here restricts your rights under the licence of any open-source component.
Updates
Updates within the licensed major version are included. We are not obliged to produce any particular update, or to keep supporting a macOS version Apple has stopped supporting.
Termination
This licence ends if you materially breach it. On termination you must stop using the software and remove your licence key. Refunds are governed by the refund policy.
No warranty
The software is provided “as is”. To the fullest extent permitted by law we disclaim all warranties, including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. Our aggregate liability is limited to the amount you paid for the licence. Consumers keep all statutory rights, which this section does not limit.
